The first rugged UMPC to have a built-in thumb keyboard, the SwitchBack utilizes never before seen “Parallel Processing Capabilities” to power multiple Operating Systems including Windows XP in combination with Windows Mobile, Windows CE or Linux. Because of its unique parallel processing technology the SwitchBack is energy efficient and has an extended battery life multiple times that of other portable computers its size in low power mode.

Backpacks that can be integrated in the Switchback Rugged UMPC The SwitchBack's design is so flexible almost any electronic peripheral can be designed to interface with it. Today, customers can order the SwitchBack™ with the Standard BackPack, which includes VGA output, a Serial Port, type II PCMCIA, Audio In/Out and USB 2.0. In addition, customers can choose to utilize Roper Mobile's BackPack Development Kit which allows them to build their own custom BackPacks.
